Culture Shift II

Introduction

Building from the lessons learnt from the Culture Shift held in March 2012, British Council & Co-Creation Hub Nigeria (CcHub) are proud to introduce Culture Shift II a project aimed at building relevant technology solutions to enhance the activities of high potential companies across Nigeriaโ€™s creative sector.

Through the project, select high potential companies in Nigeriaโ€™s creative sector will work together with software developers and designers from the CcHub community to develop innovative technology solutions that help the companies address critical business challenges or help them tap into previously unexploited opportunities in their industry value.

The Creative Companies

Creative companies that would be participating in Culture Shift II are Chocolate City Group, Trybe Records, L’Espace, Lufodo Performing Arts Academy, Modern Day School of Arts and Crown Troupe of Nigeria.

How it will work?
Culture Shift II starts with a series of ideation sessions taking place at the CcHub on the 22nd and 23rd of November, 2012. At the ideations sessions, teams of software developers, designers and user experience experts will work with representatives of the creative companies. They will start by understanding the company and its value chain, they will brainstorm ways through which web and mobile software can be innovatively used to tap into unexplored opportunities in the value.

The best ideas proposed by the different sessions will be shortlisted for development further at a 2 day hackathon taking place on the 27th and 28th of November 2012.

Working in mixed teams with complementary skills, working prototype of each of the top 6 ideas will be developed at the Hackathon.

All developed prototypes will then pitch to an expert panel of judges and other stakeholders from 4pm on the 28th of November, 2012. The judges will then select the top 3 solutions who will be awarded cash prizes of N700,000 (1st prize), N500,000 (2nd prize) and N300,000 (3rd prize). The teams will have 2 – 4 weeks after the hack to complete the fully working version of the app which will then be deployed for the creative company for pilot.

After the pilot, CcHub will work with the creative company and the technology team to improve the solution and to scale it up to the rest of the industry.
