9 July 2019, Lagos, Nigeria: CcHUB has collaborated with insight2impact for the DataHack4FI Innovation Competition. It promotes the use of data and data analytics to solve business challenges. The competition encourages pan-African collaboration by creating opportunities for data enthusiasts and emerging tech companies to partner in developing new solutions that address local needs.

There is a major skills shortage for data science careers in Africa. Data science and skills development can actively contribute towards closing the 50% job-skill gap. DataHack4FI Season 3 connects skilled data enthusiasts to emerging technology companies. It goes beyond an innovation challenge towards creating opportunities for skills development and future employment.

The insight2impact DataHack4FI team lead, Dumisani Dube reflects, “As a young African, I relate to the opportunities and challenges that young people on the continent face. We recognised the opportunities offered by a young workforce with a healthy entrepreneurial drive and chose to enhance this by addressing the challenge of low digital skills.” 

The country finals are happening across seven African countries with our final were seven teams pitched their solutions to the panel of judges Suzanne Adeoye, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Usman Sotunde, Blessing Oladeji, Kgomotso Tolamo and Glory Enyinnaya. The finals showcase the best data-driven solutions for financial and economic inclusion on the continent. The finalists Esusu Africa have the opportunity to attend the Grand Finale Data Fest in Kigali, Rwanda on 22-23 August 2019 with a chance to win $25,000 seed capital.
