Efiko, BotClub, and Genii Games Exhibit at Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta

To mark their 70th anniversary, Lisabi Grammar School Idi-Aba, Abeokuta Ogun State invited Co-creation Hub to be the main exhibitors at the event. The exhibition was to showcase education apps developed by ventures in the hub. The selected ventures were Genii Games, Bot Club and Efiko.

The event kicked off at about 10:00am with an introduction and recognition of dignitaries followed by a welcome address by the Chairman.
Two lectures: โ€œBuilding ICT Skills As A Secondary School Studentโ€ by Chris Kweks and โ€œThe Future of ICTโ€ by Fola Akinmolayan were delivered.

The exhibition began after Jumaat. The goal of the exhibition was to enlighten participants about CcHub and inspire the students, by showing them what people were building with technology. Adebayo Adegbembo of Genii Games, Dipo Olokunola, instructor at BotClub, and Adebayo Adebayo and Ebenezer Ayodele Oni of Efiko set up their exhibition stands to showcase their apps.

The pre-assembled robots and the laptop used for controlling them were arranged on a table within view of the eager students. Dipo began by demonstrating how the robots are operated. There was a crowd of interested students eager to watch and learn.

We then made a call for volunteers who wanted to have firsthand experience with controlling the robots. The response was encouraging. We had more volunteers than we bargained for. Dipo picked out 10 students (2 at a time) to teach the basics on how to operate and control the robots.

Over on table reserved fro Efiko, a mini-competition to help the students familiarize themselves with the platform soon materialized. Five students from each senior secondary class (SSS 1, SSS 2 and SSS 3) were selected to compete for a grand prize of a Nokia Asha 205. The contestants each played the Efiko game on mobile devices provided for them. The winners from each class then had a faceoff and an overall winner emerged.
