Alumni in the News

Several alumni of CcHUB programmes have gone on to achieve remarkable success. From headline-making innovations to game-changing ventures, they are contributing to quality education and civic resilience, strengthening healthcare and environmental sustainability, and improving livelihoods. Here is a look at some of their stories in the news.

  1. Kunda Kids Named One of Londonโ€™s Top 100 Startups, Championing African Education

Kunda Kids, a cohort of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, has been recognised as one of Londonโ€™s top 100 startups. The EdTech company champions African heritage through books, language learning, and digital content. With strong roots in cultural inclusion, Kunda Kids continues to demonstrate how African narratives can make a global impact.

  1. Qataloog, a pioneering startup from Cohort 1 of the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, has officially signed Rivers State University

Qataloog, also a Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship alumnus, has partnered with Rivers State University to provide a personalised e-library experience. This marks a step forward in improving access to curriculum-aligned learning across Nigeria.

  1. Lumos Labs Partners with National Board for Technology Innovation to Advance Waste-to-Energy Projects and Capacity Building in Nigeria

Ejikeme Nwosuโ€™s Lumos Labs has signed an agreement with Nigeriaโ€™s National Board for Technology Innovation to lead waste-to-energy projects and capacity buildingโ€”strengthening Nigeriaโ€™s clean energy ecosystem.

  1. GIVO x Heirs Holdings: Transforming Plastic Waste into Opportunity!

GIVO, led by Victor Boyle-Komolafe, is now transforming plastic waste from Heirs Holdings locations into reusable products. The initiative highlights cleantechโ€™s potential to merge sustainability with local economic growth.

  1. GIVO Launch Groundbreaking Zero Carbon Recycling Hub in partnership APM Terminals in Apapa, Lagos

(Victor Boyle-Komolafe, GIVO – GCIP-Nigeria Cohort 2)


In partnership with APM Terminals, GIVO has launched a solar-powered recycling hub in Apapa, Lagos. Capable of recycling 300kg of plastic waste daily, the hub is projected to cut 3,000+ metric tons of CO2 annually.

  1. QUADLOOP Expands Global Reach with 500 Solar Lamps Contract in Mozambique

(Dozie Igweilo, QUADLOOP – GCIP-Nigeria Cohort 3)       

Dozie Igweiloโ€™s QUADLOOP is set to deliver over 500 solar lamps in Mozambique. Built with 70% e-waste, these lamps offer sustainable energy access while reducing environmental impact.

  1. Trashformas Wins Africa Gas Innovation Summit Hackathon

(Thara Aisha Atta, Trashformas Nigeria Limited- GCIP-Nigeria Cohort 3)

Thara Aisha Atta of Trashformas Nigeria Limited took third place and a โ‚ฆ1M grant at the Africa Gas Innovation Summit Hackathon for her innovative solutions in gas tech challenges.

iHUB (Nairobi, Kenya)

iHUB, a CcHUB company, had diverse engagements in Q2, 2025:

  • CEO Confidential Roundtable brought together top founders to discuss investor relationships.
  • Jesus Tech Hackathon, co-organised with Faith Foundry, birthed 5 MVPs addressing ministry tech needs and yielded internship and pilot opportunities.
  • Microsoft for Startups Tour engaged the ecosystem on AI and Azure support.
  • Calvin University Visit offered cross-cultural startup and leadership engagement.
  • Kenyan-German Dialogue explored open-source partnerships and hiring opportunities through OSBA.

CcHUB Namibia

This quarter, CcHUB Namibia:

  • Held workshops with BIPA on copyright reform.
  • Supported ScaleUp Namibia Logo Hackathon to fuse innovation and culture.
  • Hosted high-level delegation from Nigeriaโ€™s Ministry of Culture.
  • Explored fashion industry growth through a targeted roundtable.

Design Lab (Rwanda)

In the second quarter of 2025, the CcHUB Design Lab in Rwanda:

  • Engaged Kepler University through the Founder series and curriculum collaboration.
  • Delivered AI for Business masterclasses with 500+ attendees.
  • Activated creative communities and co-working spaces.
  • Partnered with Irembo and Westerwell Haus Kigali on tech programmes.

CcHUB Nigeria

In the second quarter of 2025, the CcHUB Nigeria:

  • Hosted NIPDB for a visit and held a Cross-Country Collaboration Roundtable & Networking with them at CcHUB Lagos
  • Hosted 60 students and 5 faculty from EPITECH to explore Africaโ€™s innovation landscape.
  • Welcomed Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry to discuss ecosystem partnerships.
  • Co-hosted impactful events like Catalyst (with Tech Revolution Africa), Female Focus (with WeTech), and Dev Junction (with GDG and others).

HEI Innovation

At the AFDB Annual Meeting 2025, our session on โ€œUnlocking Africaโ€™s Capital for Research-Based Innovationโ€ presented a compelling case for aligning academia, industry, and government to fund and scale research-based DeepTech innovation across African HEIs.

  • Showcased at GITEX Africa: Connecting with global EdTech investors.
  • Funtopia 4th Edition: A successful family-oriented learning event.
  • Memory Munch Launch: A new educational game enhancing memory and focus.

Tech & Society

Governance & Elections

  • Implemented a 3-part capacity training series for civic actors on digital safety, data, and advocacy.
  • Partnered with Open Institute to provide free civic learning tools. Learn More.

Digital Security

  • Launched Safeguarding & Digital Security Charter for CcHUB.
  • Developed reporting tools for survivors of online abuse.

Design for Health

  • At Africa Digital Health Summit 2025, CcHUB hosted a strategic workshop on digital health adoption and UHC.
  • The ADEIN PanAfrican Townhall highlighted Rwandaโ€™s health tech strides and collaborative strategies.
  • In partnership with SCIDaR and NPHCDA, CcHUB hosted a UHC alignment workshop for tech innovators under the i3 Programme.
