Entertainment & Media Hubs Champions Project

We are thrilled to introduce the Entertainment & Media Hubs Champions Project, an initiative designed to accelerate the growth of a gender-equitable storytelling ecosystem within Nigeriaโ€™s entertainment industry. Driven by the Creative Economy Practice at CcHUB, this project reflects our ongoing commitment to improving lives by advancing gender equity through creative expression.

This initiative responds to the urgent need for more inclusive narratives in film, TV, and digital media โ€” stories that better reflect the diversity of African societies and challenge outdated stereotypes. By fostering more gender-equitable storytelling, we aim to influence attitudes, shift perceptions, and contribute to a more inclusive creative sector.

At the heart of this initiative are 12 storytellers based in Nigeria, known as Champions, who have been carefully selected through a competitive process. Each Champion has demonstrated a commitment to inclusive storytelling, influence within their creative communities, and the ability to amplify important narratives through their platforms.

Our vision is to create a culture where authentic, inclusive stories thrive โ€” stories that shape public opinion, policy, and perception. By equipping and amplifying these Champions, we are investing in changemakers who can lead this shift in the entertainment and media landscape.

The Champions will take on specific roles and responsibilities as part of their engagement in the 12-month initiative.

  1. Global Learning Experience:

Participate at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, USA, from June 4th to 10th, 2025, to explore international best practices in gender-equitable storytelling.

  1. Lead one workshop and one roundtable:

Champions will lead in-person engagement workshops and roundtables to advance inclusive narratives in collaboration with peers, emerging creators, and industry experts.

  1. Host or Speak at One High-Profile Dialogue:

Champions will participate in a significant industry event in Nigeria to showcase their work and engage stakeholders around gender-equitable storytelling.

To maximize reach and impact, we are partnering with Joy Inc., whose expertise in narrative change and emotional intelligence will support the Champions in shaping compelling stories and driving public engagement.

Together, we aim to expand the visibility and influence of gender-equitable storytelling across Nigeria and beyond, helping to build an entertainment industry that reflects the full richness of African experiences.
