Co-creation Hub, in partnership with the Government of Nigeria, represented by the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (FMSTI) and the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), is excited to introduce the second cycle of the Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP-Nigeria). The GCIP is being implemented in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The application deadline is May 5, 2023.
The GCIP is seeking innovative, scalable, and market-driven solutions from entrepreneurs, start-ups, and researchers across Nigeria that are promoting cleantech innovation and entrepreneurship to address the most pressing climate and environmental challenges.
Climate change is a global challenge requiring urgent action. At the same time, the demand for energy and resources keeps increasing, especially in emerging markets and developing economies.
Innovative cleantech entrepreneurship plays a key role in climate action by supporting the transition towards sustainable economies while also creating green jobs. Being the engines for growth and innovation, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can lead this transition by developing cutting-edge technologies, products and services.
The GCIP will address the difficulties faced by Cleantech Innovators, such as lack of technical support, limited access to funding, a weak cleantech ecosystem, weak policy and regulatory environment, and institutional barriers, among others.
The programme will provide selected participants with comprehensive training, mentorship, and networking opportunities, as well as the chance to compete for financial and in-kind support. The GCIP will also strengthen entrepreneurship ecosystems and facilitate partnerships between private and public actors to ensure the long-term sustainability of its interventions.
Participants in GCIP- Nigeria will benefit from the following:
- Access to high-impact capacity-building sessions delivered by innovative business and cleantech leaders
- Linkage with mentors and industry experts for targeted advisory support along the journey
- Access to capital through relationships with strategic investors, VC firms, and other financing institutions
- Opportunity to actively contribute to the national and global cleantech innovation ecosystem
- Amplify your impact through National and Global events and showcases
- Opportunity to scale your innovative cleantech solution in Nigeria and beyond through strategic linkages
- Connection with large-scale cleantech companies across the globe for possible collaborations
Eligible sectors for the programme include:
- Renewable energy
- Energy efficiency and conservation
- Water and wastewater management
