Overview of DFH

The Design for Health Practice is dedicated to building A healthier and self-reliant Africa through transformative innovation and technology that ensures holistic health and promotes the well-being of all. Africa is no longer just consumers of health tech solutions, weโ€™re crafting the future of healthcare through homegrown, contextually appropriate, and impactful innovations for Africa. Our work dives deep into the heart of the most pressing healthcare challenges by collaborating with key stakeholders to redefine healthcare access for millions.

We do this through rigorous research, capacity building for stakeholders including start-ups, human-centered design (HCD) driven projects, and facilitating a vibrant community of practice.

Launch of the Health Tech Connect Africa

The Design for Health Practice is set to launch its Health Tech Community of Practice for Health Tech Innovators; Health Tech Connect Africa on the 4th OCT, 2024.

The Health Tech Connect Africa is a community of practice for professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals passionate about leveraging technology to revolutionize healthcare in Africa. Here, we foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, innovation, funding, and capacity building to create a healthier future for all.

Health Tech Connect Africa is more than just a gathering, itโ€™s a movement to transform healthcare through innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology at the last mile. ADEIN Inovation Demo Day

The ADEIN Innovation Challenge has brought together talented and passionate health tech innovators from across Africa. Roundtable Series 1: Digital Interoperability In Nigeria: The Way Forward

The Roundtable Discussion series was moderated by Stephanie Okpere(Lead, Design for Health Practice, CcHUB), which featured esteemed industry experts: Marelize Georgens (Lead, Digital Health WorldBank), Nkiruka Ukor(National Professional Officer, Health Information, Research and Innovation, WHO), Dr Chijoke Kaduru (Managing Director, Corona Management System), Dr Amoo Olufemi Samuel(Research Scientist &Head, Centre for Human Virology and Genomics, NIMR), and Ayomide Owoyemi(Digital Health Specialist).

This Roundtable Discussion was centered around the importance of Digital Interoperability in health in Nigeria and the challenges posed which include data ownership and sharing, the lack of electronic data collection systems which leads to patients sharing their care anew at each point of service.

Round Table Series 2: Accessing Healthcare Data for Research & Development

The Second Roundtable series was moderated by Stephanie Okpere(Head, Design for Health Practice, CcHUB) and it featured industry experts: Tosin Felixson(Head of Engineering &Data, Helium Health), Njide Ndili( Country Director, PharmAccess), Dr Ayodeji Alaran(CEO, PBR Life Sciences), Prof Rosemary Audu(Director of Research, Nigerian Institute of Medical Research NIMR), and Ayomide Owoyemi(Digital Health Specialist).

The Roundtable discussion dived deep into Data Accessibility in Healthcare and we discussed in detail the key challenges and opportunities surrounding healthcare data access for research and development.Click on this link to watch the video.
