As Internet usage has increased over the years, so has the importance of data privacy. Websites, applications, and social media platforms often need to collect and store personal data about users in order to provide services. However, some applications and platforms may exceed users' expectations for data collection and usage, leaving users with less privacy than they realized.
Last year, in line with our pan-African efforts to provide in-depth support to startups across the continent, we launched our flagship programme - CcHUB Seedr. This is an acceleration programme designed to support impact-driven founders, in emerging startup ecosystems, to build sustainable businesses and raise funds to expand and improve their operations. To kick off, we pitched our tent in Namibia and put out a call for applications.
As a way of celebrating the role of education in bringing about global peace and sustainable development, the 24th of January has been declared International Day of Education by the United Nations. In line with the theme of the celebration this year; Changing Course, Transforming Education, our aim at re:learn by CcHUB is to put the spotlight on the transformations we have been able to facilitate as an educational practice to promote equity, access and sustainability to Education in Africa.
Co-creation Hub, in collaboration with Google, Mojaloop Foundation, and the government of Rwanda, launched the Fintech Innovation Program on Saturday, the 11th of December at the Hanga Pitchfest 2021. It is one of the initiatives designed to accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation in order to drive inclusive economic development by leveraging technology as well as fostering a pan-African innovation ecosystem.
In 2021, Syndicate by CcHUB invested in 11 companies led by amazing founders across 7 different verticals like consumer and lifestyle, logistics, health, fintech, data and business intelligence, Agritech and identity management. 45% of the portfolio companies are female-led, aligning with the brand’s ethos to support gender balance in the companies invested in.
At the end of October 2021, I left my role as the Regional Director of the British Council’s Arts and Creative Economy Programme in Sub Saharan Africa to start a new adventure setting up a Creative Economy focused practice with CcHub.
Africa’s startup and innovation ecosystem is almost unrecognisable from eleven years ago when we started CcHUB and I am excited by the explosion which is about to happen as more capital and support are being mobilised to back innovators and creative entrepreneurs across the continent.
Co-creation Hub launched its security command centre on the 13th of December 2021, in line with her approach to providing digital resilience capability to the African ecosystem.
Co-Creation Hub in collaboration with Google and Mojaloop foundation launched the Fintech Innovation Project in Rwanda today, 11th December 2021 to accelerate Rwanda’s digital transformation. This project is part of ongoing efforts to turn Rwanda into the Fintech hub for Africa with Mojaloop as the national payments switch for Rwanda. This project is in line with Rwanda’s ambition to drive inclusive economic development leveraging technology.
